Nantyr

About This Game:

  • Nantyr was unleashed upon the world in 2018, setting the stage for unforgettable nights and uncontrollable laughter.

  • Inspired by the legendary Queen Bre, and Kirby, whose wild spirits and iconic sass gave this game its edge.

  • Can be referred to as "Nants" or "Nantsie."

Objective

Score the least amount of points by the time someone hits 100. When that happens, everyone adds up their scores — lowest score wins the game.

Setup

  • 2-8 players.

  • Use a standard 52-card deck (remove jokers).

  • If playing with more than 4 players, use 2 decks.

  • Shuffle and deal 8 cards to each player. Do not look at your cards.

  • Each player arranges their cards face down into 4 rows of 2 cards.

  • Place the rest of the deck face down in the center as the draw pile.

  • Flip the top card of the draw pile and place it face up beside it — this becomes the discard pile.

  • The player to the left of the dealer goes first. Play proceeds clockwise.

How to Play

On your turn, you have three options:

  1. Flip one of your own face-down cards.

  2. Draw the top card from the deck and swap it with one of your cards (you don’t get to look at your card before swapping).

  3. Take the top card from the discard pile and swap it with one of your cards (you do know what this card is).

Note:

  • You only get one move per turn.

  • Your own cards remain face down until you flip or swap them.

  • Once a card is swapped, it must be placed face up.

Ending a Round

  • As soon as one player has all 8 cards face up, they "close the show".

  • Each remaining player gets one final turn.

  • Then, all cards are flipped face up and points are tallied.

Special Combos:

  • Same-value pair in a column (e.g., 6♣ above 6♦): Both cancel to 0 points.

  • Double Queens: A pair of Queens = -10 points (yep, it’s worth the risk!).

  • If a red and black jack are in a column, the red jack gets cancelled out.

Winning the Game

  • Keep playing rounds until one player reaches 100 or more points.

  • At that point, everyone totals their scores.

  • The player with the lowest cumulative score is crowned the Lowball Legend!
